Furnishings, Fabrics and Leather

Upholstery cleaning often gets overlooked. Upholstery fabrics come into more contact with our bodies than carpets do. They can quickly become dirty from perspiration, grease from hair and hand cosmetics. As upholstery is one of the most expensive items you’ll purchase for your home, we feel it’s also important to make sure you use a professional upholstery cleaning service.

SACCAS offer experienced upholstery cleaning for the whole of Cornwall.

Fabrics require a much more delicate approach to cleaning than carpets.

Finding professional sofa cleaning in Cornwall can be hard over the internet. This is because upholstery cleaning requires different tools, equipment and products than what might be used on carpets.

There are also many hidden dangers if cleaning is not undertaken properly and having the right knowledge is vital. We are experts in high-end fabric cleaning. You can be safe in the knowledge your fabrics are being expertly and skilfully cleaned by us. Using our experience and knowledge were able to undertake work turned down by many.

Leather Cleaning

We undertake a full survey of each suite/item to check any issues which may arise from cleaning the fabric. All our cleaning methods use the latest technology for superior cleaning and also leave no chemical residues behind.

We’re fully trained in all aspects of leather cleaning. From aniline to pigmented upholstery, leather can come in many forms and all need caring for in different ways which is where we come in. Leather needs to be maintained on a regular basis to keep it in peak condition and prolong its life. Over the life of your upholstery dirt and oils build up and if left untreated can lead to the breakdown of pigments and protective topcoats. This can lead to colour loss and damage. Cleaning removes these build-ups and restores the leather.

As part of our leather sofa cleaning service, we also protect the leather with a dedicated protector/conditioner specifically designed for your type of leather finish. This gives you added protection against water-based spills allowing you to mop up those little accidents without ruining your upholstery.

With all leather jobs, it is important that I visit to check the condition before cleaning can commence. This is a free service and we can provide you with a no-obligation quote once we have inspected the leather.

Upholstery 7-point process

1. Free Pre-Survey

This is carried out on all carpets that will be potentially cleaned. This is for fibre identification, to check for existing damage, potential problems and in some cases, cleaning limitations. The results will be fully discussed with the customer before any work is carried out

2. Pre-Clean Vacuuming

Around 80-85% of soiling in carpets and upholstery is dry particulate dust/grit type soiling. The first important stage of all cleaning processes is to remove as much dry soiling as possible before wetting the upholstery. All upholstery is pre-vacuumed with a heavy-duty commercial grade vacuum cleaner.

3. Spotting & Pre-Spray

Some upholstery may have spots and stains that need separate attention before the fabric is pre-sprayed. After these have been treated the fabric will be pre-sprayed with a product appropriate to the soiling and fibre type.

4. Agitation

Done by a machine or by variety of methods. This is used to work the cleaning solution into the fibres allowing it to work on the deeper down soils and preparing the upholstery for rinse extraction. Agitation is a very important part of the cleaning process and commonly skipped by cleaning companies.

5. Rinse extraction

Fresh water is jetted into the upholstery at over 250 PSI. The specialist extraction wand then passes over the upholstery extracting the water, eco-solution and soiling out of your upholstery into our cleaning system. This leaves your upholstery smelling fresh, clean and free from any cleaning solutions.

6. Drying

Our extraction equipment will typically leave your fabrics touch dry within a few hours, but as part of the service we will speed dry the fabrics as much as possible prior to leaving.

7. Final groom and run through

The upholstery is groomed if required and then we’ll run through the finishing details and ask you to check your happy and then it’s time to say goodbye.
